The goal was to make it easier to contact and communicate with other master boxers and also easier to find others that match up in age, weight and experience level. As we all know it can be a challenge to get matched up at events but we hope the profile pages can make it an easier process.

In order to compete as a Master in a USA Boxing sanctioned event you must have a valid and up to date passbook (How to get your passbook is posted on the NEED TO KNOW page).
Master Boxers compete with 16oz gloves approved by USA Boxing and headgear also approved by USA Boxing. Master competition gloves are currently sold by Ringside and Title.
To clear up some questions about different round times in tournaments and events.
The rules state that master boxers will compete in bouts of 3 rounds of 2 minutes or less duration with a 1 minute rest period in between. The confusion has come with the Ringside World Championships where they use one and a half minute rounds up to the age of 49 and one minute rounds ages 50 and up. The reason for this, It’s a tournament where you can have up to 3 fights in three days. John and the Ringside staff has been doing this tournament for 11 years going on it’s 12th and I got to say he really looks into what is best for the masters and the tournament. We have a special interview with John Brown in the next issue of THE MASTERS BOXING MAGAZINE that will explain more on the subject.
Most other events follow the 3 rounds of 2 minute duration but if you have a question I would recommend you contact the person holding the event.
To access the profiles role over the MASTER BOXER PROFILE link on the menu. The drop down menu will show and has 3 profile options (Ages 55 and older, Ages 45 to 54, Ages 35 to 44) hover over the age group you would like to view and click to view. You can leave comments on a boxers profile by clicking on title or picture. That will take you to the full detail page of that boxer with a message box at the bottom.
