The Ringside World Championships Tournament in August will still have the Masters Division so nothing has changed there. The Tournament in March gives masters another opportunity to compete and yes there will be Champions. It is by bracket so if you win your bracket you will be the champion of that age group but it is the champion of that tournament. Hope this helps answer some of your questions.

since they have a separate masters tournament now, and matches go by age weight and experience, do they even have actual champions at the championships? if so, how do they name champions without any real fixed classes? for example: teddy tomatocan, 2012 ringside masters world champion ____ weight division ___ age bracket ____ experience level… ?? do they just fill in the blanks after they tourney?

I fought at gleason and at ringside world championship…both were great..I am fight at the end of March at the ringside tournament at 132lbs at age 42. To those reading this, it is worth the trip

Mike, Where are you located? First match can be at Ringside or if you are in the East Coast Gleason’s is a great place it’s just making sure you get matched up properly. Both Gleason’s and Ringside do a great job and a lot of Masters have their first bouts at Ringside. I would recommend you fight at under 201 as 205 would be heavy’s and can be much taller and heavier opponents.

Hey Steve. I know u most likely had your first fight by now. I just became a member of the Master division and current in training. I am considering going to the KC tourney. I just turned 52 and about 5’8″and currently weigh about 205. Do you hve any suggestions on how to go about getting your first match?

I need the rules about the Masters Division. I’m 44, but have a wealth of amateur experience and haven’t fought since 96′; never turned pro. Also, I’m at 201lb. Will there be plenty of fighters in that weight class for the Master’s World Championship?
